The finds of grape in the territory of the Republic of Armenia are known from the early agricultural periods, but, in general, these finds are very rare. As a result of the excavations and archaeobotanical studies conducted in the Getahovit-2 cave, two grape pips were found from two different Eneolithic layers dated by the 46th-42nd and 47th– 44th centuries BC - US36 (Structure 148) and US 53. The findings of the Eneolithic period grape from the Getahovit-2 site chronologically follow the Neolithic finds of Aratashen and precede the Eneolithic finds of Areni-1, thus filling the gap in the history of the grapes in the territory of Armenia.
